The author wrote plays while earning his living working variously as a mill worker in Brighouse, a railway clerk, a cost clerk for Simpson Fawcett & Company, for a Leeds firm  making prams and toys, and as a bricklayer's labourer

This play was originally performed by EPP in 1934 in The Gatty Memorial Hall
