Laurie Lee's autobiographical novel, adapted for the stage by Nick Darke 01.03.94 - 05.03.94
Poet Laurie Lee was born in 1914 in rural Gloucestershire and grew up during a time of change on which the rural traditions of past centuries were being swept aside in the path of twentieth-century progress. His autobiography Cider With Rosie, a poetic evocation of his inter-war childhood, has become a modern classic.
This play adaptation is set in and around the village of Slad, and the action takes place in the Lees' cottage, the local pub, the village school, and surrounding countryside.
