A self-made man returns from a cruise to find his house redecorated in an “arty” fashion by his wife, daughter, and sister. He reacts violently and then the fun begins.
The author wrote plays while earning his living working variously as a mill worker in Brighouse, a railway clerk, a cost clerk for Simpson Fawcett & Company, for a Leeds firm making prams and toys, and as a bricklayer's labourer.
